Licorice root extract (alcohol-free) contains both glycyrrhizin and glabridin. It is widely known that Glycyrrhizin is anti-inflammatory, and when used topically, it may help to reduce any skin redness or irritation. It is also known as an antioxidant so it protects the skin from free radicals. Glabridin may cause skin lightening and reduces dark spots by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase which causes pigmentation.
